The Sligo Yeats Society was founded in 1958, and the Yeats Memorial Building is its home. Here, visitors can see a photographic exhibition detailing Yeats’ life and his family. Other events include exhibitions, films, lectures and visits illuminating the life and work of Ireland’s greatest poet. In addition, staff are on hand to answer questions, show films and assist with library research. The building also houses the Sligo Art Gallery, a space for contemporary art. The Yeats River Café serves freshly prepared food.
