A Martello Tower looking out over Howth Harbour is the home of a Vintage Radio Museum. The Tower was first connected with radio in 1903, when Lee deForest, inventor of the triode valve, sent experimental transmissions from here for the benefit of engineers from the British Post Office. Today, it’s full of antique gramophones, radios and televisions. On the walls are radio-related posters, photographs and maps. The Martello tower was first built to defend the coast against Napoleon.
