Waterford’s newest major attraction is this plaza. Connected to a long walkway stretching along the River Suir, it was completed in 2001 at a cost of £2 and it has transformed the City’s Clyde Wharf area. It’s named after William Vincent Wallace, who was born in Colbeck Street, Waterford City. Living from 1812 to 1865, he is considered to be one of the greatest composers of English opera of his generation. The area is probably the best spot for viewing the City’s famous Tall Ships Race.
