Wexford North Slobs contain the internationally important Wexford Wildfowl Reserve. Around one third of the world’s Greenland white-fronted geese winter on this shallow harbour next to the Slaney Estuary. Siberian Bewick’s Swans, Icelandic Whopper Swans, Pintails and Snow, Bean and Brent geese are also attracted to the area’s mudflats and sandbanks, the closest point due south to Britain. For other visitors, there are picnic areas, lookout towers and a visitor centre with exhibitions, slide shows and lectures.
