The first steam train chugged along South Clare railway on May 11 1892, but by 1961 the outdated narrow gauge railway had closed. A section of the track together with Moyasta Junction station has now been restored, and visitors can once again see County Clare’s wild landscape from a train. Highlights include Poulnasheery Bay, which is crossed by way of a causeway, and the boglands of Monmore, which teem with rare plants. At Moyasta Junction station, there’s also a café and a souvenir shop.
