The Waterford and Suir Valley Railway runs along six kilometres of the spectacular Waterford–Dungarvan line. This section of the abandoned narrow-gauge railway has been reopened by volunteers. Train travellers are once again treated to the beauty of the Suir Valley, which is framed by rolling farmyard and distant mountains. At Kilmeaden another attraction is a restored ex-Irish Rail Mark 2 carriage, now home to a ticket office, a café and a shop. Don’t miss the popular twice-monthly Sunset Express, which pauses so passengers can watch the sun slowly set over the River Suir.
