Enclosed within an old stone wall, itself hidden in 420 acres of woodland, is one of Ireland’s garden gems. Neglected and forgotten, the garden was rescued and restored between 1997 and 2000. Today, rare and tender plants thrive in the garden’s mild microclimate, alongside a water feature and a horizontal maze. There’s a heritage centre here too. The Vandeleur Centre has a café, a gift shop, a plant sales centre and a display - Kilrush in Landlord Times’. Events include art and craft exhibitions, lectures and family fun days.
