Tullow is a bustling market town with many handsome granite buildings. One of them houses the town’s museum. Next to a bridge over the River Slaney, the former church is now home to an excellent collection of local and regional material detailing the area’s rich rural heritage. Exhibits include items relating to the 1798 Rebellion and its leader, Father John Murphy, who was executed in Tullow. The church itself dates from 1860 and features a fine Gothic doorway.
