Thurles Racecourse is a living record of racing in Tipperary, with races having been run here for hundreds of years. Today’s track is right handed, one-and-quarter miles long, with six flights of hurdles and seven steeplechase fences. Principally a jumping course, it hosts meetings in the winter from later September to April. The February meeting is a well-known trial for the Cheltenham Festival soon after. Racecourse facilities include a bar, a restaurant, a tearoom, a tote building and a shop.
