The Sheep’s Head Way is one of Ireland’s easier but nonetheless spectacular long-distance footpaths. Nearly 90 kms of tracks, paths and quiet roads snake around Bantry Bay to the headland of the Sheep’s Head Peninsula and back. En route are stunning cliffs, wild hills and plenty of archeological and historic monuments. For example, a stone monument with Ireland’s earliest surviving carving of a boat is on the Way. The route is well marked and it usually takes around four days to complete.
