The birthplace of George Bernard Shaw was restored in 1993, and the terraced house is now open to visitors. Inside, they can see the drawing room where the playwright’s mother held musical evenings, the bedroom where he slept and the garden where he played. Shaw lived in the Victorian House until 1866 when he was 10 years old. The understated plaque outside - Bernard Shaw, author of many plays - is as he requested it.
