The Beara Way is a 197km waymarked footpath circling the staggeringly beautiful Beara Peninsula. It starts and finishes in the lush sheltered town of Glengarriff, but the Beara Peninsula is far more rugged and the weather far more unpredictable so be prepared. Running for the most part along old roads and tracks, it weaves its way through mountains, cliffs, coastal villages and tiny islands. The route usually takes between 9 and 11 days to complete.
