St Patrick’s College was the first post-penal Catholic Seminary in Ireland. Opened in 1793, it claims to have been in continuous use longer than any other seminary in the world and it’s one of Ireland’s oldest colleges. Famous alumni include John Therry, the famous Parish Priest of Australia, the artist Frank O’Meara and Ireland’s first Cardinal, Paul Cullent. Today the college offers degrees in the Humanities and has links with Carlow University. Events held here include plays and free public lectures.
