Growing along the shore of Lough Gill, Slish Wood was once an important old oak woodland. Although the area was cleared during World War II, pockets of old oak remain, some planted 250 years ago. They are now combined with Norway spruce, Sitka spruce, Socts pine and native trees, which over time will replace all the non-native trees. Trails take in wonderful views of the Lough where mute swans and herons can be seen.
