A lively seaside suburb, Salthill has restaurants, cafés, amusements, a fairground and an excellent Blue Flag beach. The beach is actually made up of small pebbly and sandy bays separated by rocky outcrops. They look out over the lovely Galway Bay, a Special Area of Conservation, frequented by waterfowl and other wildlife. At 5km long, Salthill has the longest Promenade in Ireland and it’s popular with walkers from the City. Regular buses from Galway City visit the beach.
