St Mary’s Church is home to monuments by one of the most influential neo-classical architects in the British Isles, Sir Richard Morrison. The church was built in 1727 and other attractions include a fine tower and spire, 195 feet tall, stained glass by Catherine O’Brien of An Tur Gloine and an impressive interior complete with the original galleries. Sir Richard Morrison’s son, William, was something of a child prodigy and he built Carlow’s much-praised courthouse.
