St Declan arrived in Ardmore in the fifth century probably before St Patrick arrived in Ireland, and the village’s Old Parish is the oldest one in the country. St Declan’s Way starts here. It ends nearly 90kms later at the famous Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary. In between are numerous ecclesiastical, historic and prehistoric sites. Other highlights include the tiny hamlets of Cross and Geosh, the historic towns of Lismore and Cappoquin and a breathtaking high pass over the Knockmealdown Mountains.
