Saint Canice’s Cathedral is Ireland’s second longest. Apart from the beautiful Gothic building itself, there’s plenty more to see. Highlights include black Kilkenny Marble monuments from the 16th century, tombstones from the 17th century, the 12th-century St Kieran’s Chair, still used in Cathedral rituals, and the Red Book of Ossory, a 15th-century manuscript. Don’t miss Cityscope, a model of Kilkenny in the 1600s, or forget to climb the sixth-century Round Tower for spectacular views of the city.
