Rush is derived from Ros Eó, meaning Peninsula of the Yew Trees, and this finger of land is flanked two by sandy beaches. North and South Beach are separated by a rocky headland. Kite surfing is a popular pastime on South Beach. Prevailing winds and tide conditions make it the ideal place to practice the sport. The beach’s neighbour North Beach offers the usual sunbathing and swimming on its long stretch of golden sand. Nearby facilities include pubs, restaurants, a sports club, a sailing club and a renowned nine-hole links golf club.
