Rossnowlagh’s broad fine-sand beach draws thousands of visitors every year. They come to sunbathe, swim and surf - this is Ireland’s best surf beach. In fact, it’s one of the best surf beaches in Europe, with waves squeezed through Donegal Bay making a height of 20 feet. They were the first to be surfed in Ireland in the 1960s. Other popular watersports include boardsailing and water skiing. A Blue Flag beach, Rossnowlagh is regularly cleaned and lifeguards patrol its shores in summer. It has about 4km of sand.
