Ireland’s blanket bogs and the ancient traditions associated with them are uncovered here. Visitors can learn how and why turf is cut from the bogs; all about the geological processes that created the bogs; about the wildlife they sustain; and they can see a traditional thatched bog cottage. There’s also an exhibition on the North Kerry Writers, a tearoom, a craft corner and a pets’ corner. Events include traditional music sessions and Poor Man’s Banquets, which are traditional dinners.
