Malahide Castle is one of Dublin’s premier visitor attractions. It offers a fascinating take on the history of a nation through the lives of one of its oldest families. The Talbot family lived here for nearly 800 years, from 1185 to 1973, when the last Lord Talbot died. He left behind a castle with 250 acres of parkland, a botanical garden and an outstanding collection of portraits. Today, the castle is operated by Dublin Tourism Attractions and Fingal County Council, and more recent attractions include a model railway, a craft shop and a restaurant.
