Lough Gur is perhaps County Limerick’s most popular attraction. Discoveries first made in the 19th century revealed that it was just as popular thousands of years ago. Drainage work uncovered "cartloads" of prehistoric artefacts left by the communities that lived here. Many are in museums throughout the world. Some are in this visitor centre, which tells the story of these pre-Celtic farmers through displays and an audio-visual presentation. The Visitor Centre is housed in replica Neolithic huts.
