Described as one of the finest courthouses in Ireland, Lifford Old Courthouse is also one of the oldest – built in 1746. Today, its guided tours are a fascinating journey through trial and punishment 18th and 19th century-style, with tour guides charging, fingerprinting, sentencing and locking visitors in the dungeons (optional). Other highlights include re-enactments of famous trials held in the courthouse, including Lord Leitrim’s Murder and the Nappy Tandy Trial. The keys and lock of the jail are displayed in Donegal County Museum in Letterrkenny.
