Kinsale’s former courthouse is now home to a museum. Among its displays is one covering the life of the so-called Kinsale Giant, Patrick Cotter O’Brien, who was reportedly eight feet three inches tall. He died in 1806. Other exhibitions detail the town’s maritime history, its shipbuilding industry and the famous Battle of Kinsale, with artefacts including maps and a cannon. The Dutch-style Courthouse itself was built in 1600. Later additions include the 1706 façade and loggia.
