Kilfenora Cathedral is a bit of a surprise in this tiny village. In fact, it used to be one of Ireland’s most important parishes, and the medieval Cathedral dates from that time. So do the high crosses for which Kilfenora has earned the name, City of the Crosses. The most famous of all is probably The Doorty Cross, which displays intricate Celtic patterning. Equally impressive is the high cross in the field west of the Cathedral, which is five metres tall.
