Kilcullen’s Seaweed Baths
Harbour Road, Enniscrone, County Sligo - Ireland

Map
Kilcullen’s Bath House opened its Edwardian doors in 1912, hailing its treatments as the next big thing. Floating in a seaweed-infused brown liquid proved surprisingly popular. It still is, and the curative properties of the treatments are just as in demand. The magic ingredient is Iodine, which seaweed soaks up, stores and, with a little help, releases back into the water. Other reminders of a lost age include the porcelain baths themselves, with Edwardian brass taps, and the panelled shower cisterns. Further relaxation is on offer in the elegant tearoom.
