Kilclooney Dolmen has one of the largest Capstones in Ireland. The 13-feet-long slab tops a very fine example of a portal tomb. Tilting elegantly towards the sky, it has been compared to everything from a bird to Concord. Although the Dolmen is over 4000 years old – older than Stonehenge - it’s very well preserved and complete. Nearby is a smaller broken tomb, which was once part of the same east-facing cairn. Archeologists have found only plain Neolithic pottery at the site.
