The Gap of Dunloe is a giant trough cut through Killarney’s massive mountains by a passing glacier. It’s one of the most impressive U-shaped glacier valleys in Europe. At its very remote entrance in Killarney Nationa Park is Kate Kearney’s Cottage, which has been welcoming hungry and thirsty visitors for some 150 years. Today, a restaurant serves dinner and Sunday lunches, and a bar, bar food. There’s also a craft shop here. The cottage is the venue for award-winning Traditional Irish Nights.
