John F Kennedy Arboretum
New Ross, County Wexford

Map

The John F Kennedy Arboretum is home to some 4,500 species of trees and shrubs, 200 forest plots and wonderful views. In Spring, look out for the colourful acid-soil garden, with its flowering rhododendrons and azaleas, and head for the summit of Slieve Coillte, standing at 271 metres, for the best views. The Arboretum is named in memory of the President whose great grandfather was born in the nearby village of Dunganstown. It’s managed by the state and facilities include a shop, a café and a picnicking area with running water. The Arboretum covers 623 acres.
