Limerick’s award-winning museum traces the history of Limerick City from the Bronze Age to the present day. Bronze-age axes, seals and ceramic figures, Viking coins and 17th-century cannon balls, bombs and remains from the 1690 Seige of Limerick are among the highlights. Artefacts from later periods include award-winning pieces of Limerick lace and memorabilia from the Fenian uprisings. The Museum used to be called the Limerick City Museum, but was renamed in 1999 in memory of the late Mayor.
