James Joyce House of the Dead is one of the world’s most important literary landmarks. Once the home of an aunt of James Joyce, the house was the setting for many Joyce family Christmases and, later, for his short story, The Dead, inspired by them. Later still, John Huston filmed his last movie here. Also called The Dead, it is a homage to perhaps the world’s greatest short story. The house is also home to a contemporary art gallery and a varied programme of literary and musical events.
