This is Ireland’s leading gallery for modern and contemporary art. Ways to see it include not just the many exhibitions, with up to four running at once, but also the Artists in Residence programme. In studios next door to the main building visitors can actually see art being made and talk to the artists. Other treats include the museum’s home, the 17th-century former Royal Hospital, and the meadows, formal gardens and medieval burial grounds surrounding it.
