Fethard was once an important medieval town, and Holy Trinity Church is one of the finest medieval churches in Ireland. It’s also one of the largest and nearly as old as the town itself. Still enclosed by Fethard’s medieval town walls, it dates from the 13th century. Survivals from that time include a 13th-century nave and much of the church’s interior. Later additions include a 15th-century tower. The church was first dedicated to St John the Baptist, but became Holy Trinity Church in the 16th century.
