Galway City Museum offers spectacular views of the city, and the building has won many international awards. Other highlights include a suspended 30-foot Galway Hooker Boat, built by local boat buildings, old photographs of the Claddagh village, birthplace of the famous Claddagh Ring, and stone carvings from around the city. Events include a programme of nationally important exhibitions. Past shows have featured the photographs of Nicholas Feve and paintings by some of Ireland’s most important 20th-century artists. The Museum also takes part in the Galway Arts Festival.
