This is Ireland’s only aviation museum, and it’s filled with equipment and memorabilia from Limerick’s famous Flying Boat. The Pan Am airplane made the first commercial direct flights between Europe and the US. Launched in 1939, it carried everyone from film stars to refugees across the Atlantic, making Foynes the centre of the aviation universe. An annual Museum event is the Irish Coffee Festival, which celebrates the drink invented in the terminal café to keep passengers warm.
