Fort Dunree is a Martello Tower on a headland guarding the mouth of the River Swilly. A spectacular and strategic spot, the tower has been extended twice, once in the 19th century when it was modernized. Today it houses a Military Museum, which charts the history of the Tower using interactive technology and engaging displays. Other attractions include military artefacts, memorabilia and 20th-century guns. The Old Fort Hospital has an impressive wildlife exhibition and there’s a cafeteria.
