Duncannon Fort
Duncannon, County Wexford - Ireland

First built in 1588, Duncannon Fort sprawls into Waterford Harbour, which it was originally built to guard. Highlights include a dry moat, a gun battery, ramparts and spectacular views of the harbour. There’s also a large visitor centre with an arts centre, a craft shop, a café and a maritime museum. Events include military reenactments, tours, arts trails and workshop. Duncannon Fort appears in the remake of The Count of Monte Cristo starring Richard Harris.
