Dunanore Woods are on the west side of the River Slaney, where the River Borro slices through a steep-sided valley. Wooded trails weave through a forest of oak, beech and Scots pine, with some trees 100 years old. In spring the woodland bluebells are worth seeing. Also look out for red squirrels and otters. Listen for birdsong - the forest is alive with thrushes, blackbirds and other song birds. Dunanore gets its name from Dun an Oir and legends of buried treasure.
