Dublin City Gallery contains the entire studio contents of Francis Bacon. Bacon’s heir, John Edwards gave the collection of over 7,500 items to the gallery in 1998. The slashed canvasses, clutter and chaos offer an insight into the work and life of the painter. A gallery of modern art, Dublin City Gallery is also home to the largest public collection of 20th-century Irish art in the world and an outstanding collection of paintings by Impressionists including Renoir, Degas and Monet.
