Donegal’s old railway connected the remote communities of County Donegal, carrying everyone from fishermen to farmers. It is now closed, but visitors can relive its glory days in the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre. Exhibits include models, videos, thousands of photos, restored trains and a model railway. The chief attraction is perhaps a computer simulation enabling visitors to drive a steam train between two magnificent mountains. There’s also a shop selling railway memorabilia and other items.
