The Mouth of the Shannon is famous for its bottlenose dolphins, and the Dolphin CycleWay takes in some of the best places to see them. Among them, Carrigaholt Bay, where famous dolphin-watching trips offer a welcome break from cycling. Other stretches offer spectacular views of the Loop Head Peninsula coastline and its immense slabs of rock piling into the Atlantic. The Cycleway is 27km long, starting and finishing in the beachside village of Kilkee. It’s fairly flat with only a few steep hills.
