The Clodach river slices Curraghmore estate in two. The land on one side has belonged to the Marquis of Waterford and his ancestors since 1170. They have left their mark. The first Marquis, George de la Poer Beresford, built the Round Tower on the hill in 1785 and Catherine Poer, Countess of Tyrone, decorated the pretty shell grotto on the estate around the same time. Other attractions include a 17th-century mansion and an arboretum. The grounds are open from Easter to mid October and guided tours of the house and gardens are available by prior arrangement.
