Between 1848 and 1950, over six million adults and children emigrated from Ireland. Daniel Culkin’s Shipping and Emigration Agency helped a good deal of them on their way. The Agency shop, restored to its original condition, is now part of an evocative museum. Inside there are fascinating displays and exhibits telling the story of emigration, from the famine, poverty and lack of opportunities that fuelled it to the harsh conditions endured by emigrants on their journeys.
