Colmcille Heritage Centre
Gartan, Church Hill, Letterkenny, County Donegal - Ireland

Map
Saint Colmcille, the father of Irish Monasticism, was born in County Donegal. This heritage centre tells the story of his life with flair. Banners, stained glass, illustrated panels, artefacts and a wax model all add to the tale, which starts at his birth in 521 and ends at his death in 597. The Centre also exhibits local artworks, photographs, and an interesting visual demonstration of how ancient manuscripts were produced. There’s also a tearoom and a restaurant here.
