Colligan Wood is a beautiful forest in the valley of the Colligan River. Three marked forest walks ranging from 1.5km to 4.5km make the most of the forest’s fine views and abundant wildlife and plant life. Species include oak, beech, ash, birch, hazel, Douglas fir and Japanese larch. In spring look out for carpets of bluebells and for bilberries, which thrive here. Animal life includes fallow deer, foxes, red squirrels and hares. Colligan Wood also has picnic tables and a car park.
