Sligo is famous for its musical traditions, and the Coleman Irish Music Centre celebrates and preserves them, especially the music of Michael Coleman and his contemporaries. The centre has three main parts. The Coleman Cottage, a theatre and visitor centre and the Music School. The Cottage, a replica of Coleman’s home, is full of domestic items from the 1920s. It also houses an impressive archive of traditional music. Theatre events include Ceili nights, concerts and exhibitions of local painting, writing and craft, and there’s a visitor centre here with interactive displays.
