Carrickbyrne Hill
Carrickbyrne, County Wexford - Ireland

Map

Carrickbyrne Hill is a volcanic outcrop sticking out from an otherwise flat landscape. For visitors, there are over five kilometres of woodland walks. They wind their way through mixed forests of Douglas fir, Japanese larch, native Scots pine, oak, ash, beech and rowan to viewing points above the forest. Carrickbyrne Hill was once part of the Jeffares Estate, but it’s now owned and managed by Coillte, Ireland’s Forestry Commission. During the 1798 Rising, the hill was the camp of the United Irishmen.
