The Carmelite Church is famous in Dublin for its altars and shrines. The most famous is the Shrine of St Valentine, given to the church by Pope Gregory XVI in the 19th century. It contains the Saint’s actual remains. The shrine and statue of Our Lady of Dublin are also here as well as relics of St Albert of Sicily. The church itself was designed by George Papworth and completed in 1825 and it’s one of Dublin’s best-known churches.
