Burren Smokehouse Visitor Centre offers insights into how gourmet foods are produced on the premises. It includes an audio-visual presentation on the ancient art of smoking salmon, from filleting to dispatch. Also interesting is a replica of the smokehouse’s first kiln with its log burner and a series of mosaics retelling the legend, The Salmon of Knowledge. A shop on site sells locally produced and speciality foods, including cheeses, jams, chocolates and, of course, smoked Salmon. The Visitor Centre is a popular attraction drawing some 30,000 visitors a year.
